Metal Recycling Prices August 2014

The prices detailed are in pounds per tonne. These prices are not guaranteed and are meant to be an indicator of market prices. They are compiled by letsrecycle.com.

This is the August report which details prices up to July 2014.

Ferrous Metals

0A plate & girder: 150-160

Prices have fallen overall since January with a slight rise in March.

No 1 old steel scrap: 140-145

Prices have been falling from January.

No 2 old steel scrap: 135-140

Prices have dropped from January apart from a rise in March.

4A low residual bales: 150-155

Prices dropped in February and rose a little in March and have stayed stable till July.

4C new production bales: 160-165

Prices fell in February and then stayed stable until falling again in June and July.

Light iron: 85-105

Prices dropped in February and have stayed mostly stable since.

7B mixed steel turnings: 120-125

Prices have been trending downwards from January to July.

8B mixed steel cuttings: 140-145

Prices have fallen since January except for a slight rise in March.

9 – 10 cast: 125-130

Prices have fallen since January except for a slight rise in March.

11 cast iron borings: 115-120

Prices have been dropping since January.

Cars: 90-105

Prices have fallen since January except for a slight rise in March.

Non-ferrous Metals

Dry bright wire: 3600

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till July.

Heavy copper: 3200

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till July.

No 2 copper wire: 3000

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till July.

Braziery copper: 2600

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till July.

Insulated copper cable: 1200

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till July.

Brass cuttings: 2150

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till July.

Brass swarf: 1850

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till July.

Brass and copper radiators: 2000

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till July.

Mixed brass: 2100

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till July.

The price has been stable since a slight rise in February.

Clean cast aluminium: 750

Aluminium turnings: 650

The price has been stable since a slight rise in February.

Aluminium foil: 250

The price has been stable since January.

Lead scrap: 950

The price has stayed mostly stable with drops in February and April and then rises to previous prices in the following months.

Batteries: 400

The price has dropped slightly since January.

Zinc mixed scrap: 500

The price has been stable since January.

Zinc cuttings: 500

The price has been stable since January.

18 – 8 stainless steel solids: 850

The price has slowly risen since January.

Aluminium Cans

Baled or densified and strapped: 670-710

The price dropped from January till March and then rose in April and May and has been stable since.

Steel Cans

Steel cans (ex-works): 115-125

The price dropped from January until March. It then rose from April to June, dropping again in July.
