These are the latest indications of metal recycling prices in the UK. The prices detailed are in pounds per tonne. These prices are not guaranteed and are meant to be an indicator of market prices. They are compiled by letsrecycle.com.
This is the January report which details prices up to December 2014.
Ferrous Metals
0A plate & girder: 150 – 155
Prices fell overall from January to July with a slight increase in March. Prices increased between July and September. They fell slightly in October but had risen again by January 2015.
No 1 old steel scrap: 130 – 135
Prices fell from January to July. They rose in both August and September, the fell slightly in October but have remained stable since.
No 2 old steel scrap: 140 – 145
Prices fell overall from January to July with a slight rise in March. They rose again throughout August and September but fell slightly in October and again in January 2015.
4A low residual bales: 145 – 150
Prices dropped in February and rose a little in March and stayed stable till July. They rose again throughout August and September but fell slightly in October. They remained stable until January,l when they fell slightly.
4C new production bales: 150 – 155
Prices fell in February and then stayed stable until falling again in June and July. They rose again throughout August and September but have fallen since.
Light iron: 85 – 102
Prices dropped in February and stayed mostly stable until August. There has been a slight rise throughout August and September. The price has fallen since September.
7B mixed steel turnings: 105 – 115
Prices have been trending downwards from January to July. They rose in August and the price was stable in September but have fallen since.
9 – 10 cast: 130 – 135
Prices have fallen since January except for a slight rise in March and between July and September. Prices also had a slight rise in January 2015.
11 cast iron borings: 115 – 120
Prices dropped from January to July. They rose in August and again September. They fell in October but have risen since.
Cars: 80- 95
Prices have fallen since January 2014 except for a slight rise in March, August and September.
Non-ferrous Metals
Dry bright wire: 3400
Prices fell from January till April. They then rose from May till August. They fell slightly during September and October but have stayed stable since.
Heavy copper: 3100
Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till August. They fell between September and January.
No 2 copper wire: 3000
Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till September. They have fallen during September and October but have remained stable since.
Braziery copper: 2500
Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till August. They remained stable until October but have fallen since.
Insulated copper cable: 1100
Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till August. They fell slightly in September and October but have remained stable since.
Brass cuttings: 2100
Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till September. They have fallen since September.
Brass swarf: 1900
Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till September. They rose slightly in October but have fallen since.
Brass and copper radiators: 1800
Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till September. They have fallen since September.
Mixed brass: 2000
Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till September. They fell in October but have remained stable since.
Heavy brass: 2000

Gunmetal: 2450

Prices were stable from January to August. They rose from August to September but have fallen since.
Aluminium alloy cuttings: 900
Prices were stable from January to August. They rose from August to September and during September itself. They fell in October but have remained stable since
Old rolled aluminium: 650
Prices were stable between February and August. There has been a slight rise between August and September. They fell in October but have remained stable since.
Clean cast aluminium: 750
Prices were stable between January and August. There has been a slight rise between August and September. They fell in October but have remained stable since.
Aluminium turnings: 550
Prices were between February and October. They have fallen since October.
Aluminium foil: 250
Prices have been been stable since January 2014.
Lead scrap: 950
Prices rose in September but fell in the period up to January 2015. Before that, prices had stayed mostly stable with drops in February and April and then rises to previous prices in the following months.
Batteries: 480
Prices dropped slightly between January and September. Prices then rose during September and remained stable during October. They have fallen since.
Zinc mixed scrap: 500
Prices had been stable between January and September. They then rose during September but fell in October. They have remained stable since.
Zinc cuttings: 500
Prices had been stable between January and September. They then rose during September. They have remained stable since.
18 – 8 stainless steel solids: 650
Price rose slowly between January and September. They remained stable during September but fell in October. They have remained stable since.
Aluminium Cans
Baled or densified and strapped: 680 – 730
The price dropped from January till March and then rose in April and May. It was stable between May and July. The price then rose between July and September and remained stable in October.
They fell in November but recovered in December
Steel Cans
Steel cans (ex-works): 100-110
The price dropped from January until March. It then rose from April to June, dropping again in July. The price rose in August and remained stable in September.
Prices then fell in October and November but have remained stable since.
