These are the latest indications of metal recycling prices in the UK. The prices detailed are in pounds per tonne. These prices are not guaranteed and are meant to be an indicator of market prices. They are compiled by letsrecycle.com.
This is the May report which details prices up to April 2015.
Ferrous Metals
0A plate & girder: 110 – 120
Prices increased between July and September 2014. They fell slightly in October but had risen again by January 2015. They fell in both February and March, rising slightly in April.
No 1 old steel scrap: 100 – 115
Prices fell from January to July 2014. They rose in both August and September, then fell slightly in October but remained stable until February 2015, when the prices fell. They remained stable in March, rising slightly in April.
No 2 old steel scrap: 105 – 115
Prices rose throughout August and September but they fell between October 2014 and February 2015. They remained stable in March, rising slightly in April.
4A low residual bales: 115 – 120
Prices rose throughout August and September 2014 but fell slightly in October. They remained stable until January when they fell slightly. The prices fell further in February but have remained mostly stable since.
4C new production bales: 115 – 120
Prices fell in February 2014 and then stayed stable until falling again in June and July. They rose again throughout August and September but then fell until April 2015 when they rose slightly.
Light iron: 70 – 80
Prices dropped in February 2014 and then stayed mostly stable until August. There was a slight rise throughout August and September. The price then fell from September until March, rising in April 2015.
7B mixed steel turnings: 70 – 80
Prices have been trending downwards from January to July 2014. They rose in August and the price was stable in September but fell between September and February 2015. Prices have risen again in April.
8B mixed steel cuttings: 90 – 100
Prices dropped from January to March 2015, rising in April.
9 – 10 cast: 100 – 105
Prices have fallen since January 2014 except for slight rises in March and between July and September. Prices also rose slightly in January and April 2015.
11 cast iron borings: 75 – 85
Prices rose between October 2014 and January 2015 but fell in February and again in March, rising slightly in April.
Cars: 60 – 75
Prices have fallen since January 2014 except for slight rises in March, August and September. They have fallen particularly fast since January 2015 but remained stable in April.
Non-ferrous Metals
Dry bright wire: 3300
Prices fell from January till April 2014. They then rose from May till August. They fell slightly during September and October and again in February 2015.
There were slight price rises in March and April.
Heavy copper: 3200
Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till August. They fell between September and February.
They have remained stable since.
No 2 copper wire: 3000
Prices fell during September and October 2014 but remained stable until February 2015, when they fell. They have remained stable until rising again in April.
Braziery copper: 2600
Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till August 2014. They remained stable until October but fell until March 2015. In March and April, prices rose.
Insulated copper cable: 1050
Prices fell from January till April 2014 and then rose from May till August. They fell slightly in September and October and again in February 2015.
They have remained mostly stable since.
Brass cuttings: 2000
Prices fell from January till April 2014 and then rose from May till September. They fell between September and February 2015, rising again in April.
Brass swarf: 1900
Prices fell from January till April 2014 and then rose from May till September. They rose slightly in October then fell until rising in April 2015.
Brass and copper radiators: 1700
Prices fell from January till April 2014 and then rose from May till September. They fell between September and January 2015 but have remained stable since.
Mixed brass: 1900
Prices fell from January till April 2014 and then rose from May till September. They fell in October but have remained stable since.
Heavy brass: 1900
Prices fell from January till April 2014 and then rose from May till August. They fell in September but have remained stable since.
Gunmetal: 2350
Prices fell slightly in September 2014 but rose a little in October. They fell between October and January 2015 but rose slightly in February. They have remained stable since.
Pure aluminium cuttings: 900
Prices were stable from January to August 2014. They rose from August to September, fell between September and January and have remained stable since.
Aluminium alloy cuttings: 900
Prices were stable from January to August 2014. They rose from August to September and during September itself. They fell in October but have remained stable since.
Old rolled aluminium: 700
Prices were stable between February and August 2014. There was a slight rise between August and September. They fell in October but have remained mostly stable since.
Clean cast aluminium: 800
Prices were stable between January and August 2014. There was a slight rise between August and September. Prices fell in October and rose again in April.
Aluminium turnings: 560
Prices fell between October 2014 and January 2015 but have remained stable since.
Aluminium foil: 250
Prices have been been stable since January 2014.
Lead scrap: 850
Prices rose in September 2014 but fell in the period up to January 2015. Prices remained stable in April.
Batteries: 400
Prices dropped between January 2014 and February 2015. They have remained stable since.
Zinc mixed scrap: 500
Prices had been stable between January and September 2014. They then rose during September but fell in October. They have remained stable since.
Zinc cuttings: 500
Prices had been stable between January and September 2014. They then rose during September. They have remained stable since.
18 – 8 stainless steel solids: 680
Price rose slowly between January and September 2014. They remained stable up until February 2015, when they rose slightly. They fell again in March, rising in April.
Aluminium Cans
Baled or densified and strapped: 740 – 820
The price dropped from January 2014 till March and then rose in April and May. It was stable between May and July. The price then rose between July and September and remained stable in October. The price fell in November but recovered in December 2014.
Prices fell in January 2015, remained stable in February but rose in March.
Steel Cans
Steel cans (ex-works): 73 – 83
The price dropped from January until March 2014. It then rose from April to June, dropping again in July. The price rose in August and remained stable in September.
Prices then fell in October and November. They remained stable up until February 2015, when they fell. They fell again in March, rising in April.
