Metal Recycling Prices October 2014

The prices detailed are in pounds per tonne. These prices are not guaranteed and are meant to be an indicator of market prices. They are compiled by letsrecycle.com.

This is the October report which details prices up to September 2014.

Ferrous Metals

0A plate & girder: 160 – 165

Prices fell overall from January to July with a slight rise in March. Prices have continually risen since July.

No 1 old steel scrap: 150 – 155

Prices fell from January to July but rose in both August and September.

No 2 old steel scrap: 145 – 150

Prices fell overall from January to July with a slight rise in March. They rose again throughout August and September.

4A low residual bales: 160 – 165

Prices dropped in February and rose a little in March and stayed stable till July. They rose again throughout August and September.

4C new production bales: 170 – 175

Prices fell in February and then stayed stable until falling again in June and July. They rose again throughout August and September.

Light iron: 95 – 110

Prices dropped in February and stayed mostly stable until August. There has been a slight rise throughout August and September.

7B mixed steel turnings: 125-130

Prices have been trending downwards from January to July. They rose in August and the price was stable in September.

8B mixed steel cuttings: 150 – 155

Prices have fallen since January except for a slight rise in March and between July and September.

9 – 10 cast: 135-140

Prices have fallen since January except for a slight rise in March and between July and September.

11 cast iron borings: 120-125

Prices dropped from January to July but have risen in August and again September.

Cars: 100-110

Prices have fallen since January except for a slight rise in March, August and September.

Non-ferrous Metals

Dry bright wire: 3550

Prices fell from January till April. They then rose from May till August. They fell slightly during September.

Heavy copper: 3300

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till August. They fell again during September.

No 2 copper wire: 3150

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till September. They have fallen slightly during September but are still higher than the August price.

Braziery copper: 2700

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till August. They have remained stable since.

Insulated copper cable: 1150

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till August. They fell slightly in September

Brass cuttings: 2200

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till September.

Brass swarf: 2100

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till September.

Brass and copper radiators: 2100

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till September.

Mixed brass: 2050

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till September.

Heavy brass: 2150

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till August. They fell slightly in September.

Gunmetal: 2400

Prices fell from January till April and then rose from May till August. They fell slightly in September.

Pure aluminium cuttings: 1000

Prices were stable from January to August. They rose from August to September.

Aluminium alloy cuttings: 950

Prices were stable from January to August. They rose from August to September and during September itself.

Old rolled aluminium: 700

Prices were stable between February and August. There has been a slight rise between August and September.

Clean cast aluminium: 800

Prices were stable between January and August.  There has been a slight rise between August and September.

Aluminium turnings: 650

Prices have been stable since a slight rise in February.

Aluminium foil: 250

Prices have been been stable since January.

Lead scrap: 1000

Prices rose in September. Before that, prices had stayed mostly stable with drops in February and April and then rises to previous prices in the following months.

Batteries: 500

Prices dropped slightly between January and September. Prices then rose during September.

Zinc mixed scrap: 600

Prices had been stable between January and September. They then rose during September.

Zinc cuttings: 600

Prices had been stable between January and September. They then rose during September.

18 – 8 stainless steel solids: 850

Price rose slowly between January and September. They have remained stable during September.

Aluminium Cans

Baled or densified and strapped: 680 – 725

The price dropped from January till March and then rose in April and May. It was stable between May and July. The price then rose between July and September.

Steel Cans

Steel cans (ex-works): 115-125

The price dropped from January until March. It then rose from April to June, dropping again in July. The price has remained stable in August.
