Paper & Cardboard Recycling Prices September 2015

The prices detailed are ex works, (usually baled) & are in pounds per tonne. These prices are not guaranteed and are meant to be an indicator of market prices. They are compiled by letsrecycle.com.

This is the September report which details prices up to August 2015.

UK Domestic Mill Prices

Mixed Papers: 45 – 57

Prices fell from January to August 2014. They picked up slightly in September but then dipped into October. The price range narrowed in November, with the highest prices falling and the lowest rising. Prices fell between January and March 2015, rising again in April, May and June. They remained stable in July but fell slightly in August.

Old KLS (cardboard): 67 – 78

Prices fell from January till June 2014 and rose slightly in July. They stayed stable in August, rising slightly in September. They fell between September and February 2015. They rose between February and July, before falling slightly in August.

News and pams: 68 – 79

Prices dropped in February  and March but rose again in May and June. They fell in July but rose again in August.

Over/issue news: 82 – 92

Prices dropped from January to March 2014 and then rose until June to drop again in July. They stayed the same in August and September then fell until May 2015 when they rose. This rise continued into June, July and August.

Sorted office waste: 132 – 138

Prices rose from January to October 2014. They remained stable until January 2015, when they rose.

They then fell until rising in May, June, July and August.

Coloured best pams: 128 – 133

Prices rose during most of 2014. However, they have fallen since January 2015 except for slight rises in May, June and July.

Prices fell slightly in August.

Multigrade: 124 – 130

Prices rose between January 2014 and January 2015.

They fell in February and March but nearly recovered by June. They rose slightly in July but fell and narrowed in August.

Light letter: 141 – 147

Prices rose from January to July 2014 and stayed stable until February 2015, when they rose slightly.

They were stable in March, rising a little in April with the price range then narrowing in May. The lower end of the price range increased in June. They remained stable in July. In August, the price narrowed (with the lowest price rising slightly).

White letter: 170-180

Prices rose from January to July 2014 and stayed stable until February 2015, when they rose slightly.

They were stable in March and April, followed by a small increase in May. The price remained stable in June but narrowed in July and August, with both the higher price falling and the lower price rising..

Export Prices

Mixed Papers: 60 – 68

Prices fell from January 2014 with a rise between July and September. They fell between October and December. They rose in January, April and May but fell in February and March. The price increased in June and again in July. The price narrowed in August, with the higher prices falling.

Old KLS (cardboard): 82 – 87

Prices fell from January till June 2014 and rose slightly between July and September. They fell between September and February but slightly in March through to June 2015. The price fell slightly in July. The price fell and narrowed in August, with the higher prices falling further.

News and pams: 70 – 80

Prices fell in July and August 2014, rose in September. They fell till January 2015, when they increased slightly. They fell in February and March but increased in April, May, June and July. The price narrowed in August, with the lower prices rising.

OIN Over issue news: 85 – 95

The price range narrowed in June 2015, before rising in July. The price remained stable in August.

Multigrade: 127 – 130

Prices rose from January to October 2014. Prices fell between November and February. They have increased in May and June, before falling back to the May level in July. The prices continued to fall in August.

White letter: 190 – 200

Prices rose between January and July 2014. They remained stable until October. They fell till December but rose in January, February and March. They remained stable until June, when they increased. The top price increased further in July 2015.

The price fell again in August.

Best White 2: 230 – 240

Prices remained stable between January and June 2015. They increased in June and again in July. The price has been stable since.

Merchant Prices

Mixed Papers:  10 – 20

Prices stayed pretty stable up to September but fell in October and November 2014. They remained stable in December and January but fell in February 2015. Prices recovered in April and May. They increased further in June and remained stable in July and August.

Old KLS (cardboard): 25 – 35

Prices fell from January till July 2014 except for a slight rise in June. They remained stable until rising in November, then remaining stable until January 2015, when they rose slightly. They have remained mostly stable until May & June, when they rose. They remained stable in July and increased in August.

News and pams: 25 – 35

Prices stayed fairly stable during 2014 before falling in January and February 2015. There were slight rises in May and June. They remained stable in July and increased in August.

Mixed coloured office waste: 37 – 47

Prices stayed quite stable from January to July 2014. They rose from July to August and then remained stable until November. They rose slightly in November, remaining stable up until February 2015, when they fell slightly. They rose in May and remained stable until July, when the price narrowed due to rising prices at the bottom end.

White office paper: 42 – 52

Prices rose in February and March 2014. They stayed stable until August, when they rose slightly. They remained stable until August, when top prices rose slightly.
